I definitely tend to agree. IMO Luck was the most hyped and tho you can't fault the kid for having wide open receivers -- he did and his ball placement was not outstanding.

I would rank:

Gabbert
Mallett
Luck
Newton

They are ALL really great looking prospects.

Beyond that, there's ZERO chance any team is looking at 2 drafts away. That's just silly. There are just way too many variables in that length of time.

Well Cryn he might not be the best overall, but he would have been number one overall, and I would agree with about 32 coach's, owners, some Gm's, and every other scout prospect out there ranking him high enough to be taken number one overall, rather than your opinion.

To further make zero credibility to your opinion, is you refere to my making sense for Thigpen to start next season as the sole point to why I say no to the three qb's you mentioned, when I never mentioned him at all in this thread, which is putting words in my mouth.

Also what the heck is that last rant about the member's of this board got to do with anything.

Last time I checked, uh this website was founded so that people who are fan's of the Miami Dolphins can disscuss whatever they want about the team they root for!

Again if your only response is a negative one, that incite's conflict than I urge you to stop responding to my post, to save everyone else on here the time, because all your doing is adding fuel to the fire with some poster's, and just overall annoying me like a 10 year old school child would do.

Dolphan1 I'm glad to see that you seem to make more sense than some member's of this board in at least thinking about the future, and with our currant draft situation, versus how the F/A is done this year, and lack of Offensive talent.
So to you!!!smileys with beer

I always looked for the future of this team, even though some thought I was a patriot fan, I'm just frustrated and tend to root against our team because when they play as bad as they have been, they deserve to lose. Let's all look forward to the future with a top QB. If we have to go to 1-15 this coming year to do it, so be it.

You gave me my heartiest laugh of today, Mia1. Why do I need to find your motive for Thigpen in just the post you posted today when you have advocated it in almost a million posts before now? When you think the team is turning to Henne, you run him down. When you think the team might draft a QB next year, you run it down. You have wet dreams about Thigpen. It's Thigpen, Thigpen, and Thigpen. Why do you have to post it in every thread before someone jumps to the conclusion that you are making the suggestion so that Thigpen can be the starter?

Yes, this board is for us to discuss Dolphin options. But when someone posts CONSTANTLY about Thigpen starting like you, or when someone posts CONSTANTLY about how great the Patriots are like Dolfan1, then people start stereotyping you. BTW, when you can only find support from Dolfan1, then you have hit the bottom of the barrel.

As for all of the scouts picking him the No. 1, QB coming out, so did they about Ryan Leaf and......oh, why bore everyone?

ChrnB, real classy yeah look at me, im going to pick at two members of this board, because I don't agree with there view's so damn them both to hell, as retards, who are patriot fans.

Thats how you come off, and Im the guy with issues. Lol...... Your a Dolphin fan right? You want to see the team win a SB right? You like to express your feelings, and views to others on a forum site right?

Do you get to express yourself on here? Do you get to be involved with other fans on topics related to our team? So why be a hater on others, when you should be hating on the product which you put so much time and energy on rooting for, because of horrible leadership.\

Also Cry'n B

Your new nickname for me too you.

My post didnt say a word about Thigpen, your's did, and in doing so brought it into this disscussion, which had zero to do with Thigpen, however talking about man crush's why would you bring it up in a post that did not pertain to it, if your so sick of reading about it?

It comes down to conviction. If the team's leadership has a conviction about a QB in this year's draft, then I have no problem with their throwing the kitchen sink at it (reasonably, but with conviction). If they do that, then I personally hope they still keep Henne in the competition and see if a new OC & approach can un-screw him up.

If they don't have a conviction about one of the QBs in this year's draft, then proceed accordingly. Perhaps that means get in position to get Luck (though I have to be honest - I NEVER want to see a season or even a game tanked on purpose).

What I don't want to see is straddling the fence. That feels like what they did this year, and I think Henne - while nowhere near perfect without the drama - was the worse for it.

ChyrenB you have lost it. Luck is inferior as far as passing? Did you see Cam newton, even mallet's(could be Henne 2) ?

in reality QB's that are the best decision makers, and can read defenses, end up being the most effective. Throwing 50 yds from one knee didnt help Jamarcus Russel on the field, did in the finances

The ability to run has only helped Mike Vick and Vince young in some situations, but hasn't won them playoff games

Only time will tell if it is Luck, Locker Mallet or others like Devlin or Dalton, Foles, Stanzi that end up being the best QB's out of this draft

Nobody had heard of Ben Roethlisberger before the combine

Guys, you havent watched enough football if you say Luck is not better than all those other guys.

He is hands down, the next great franchise QB.

But I do love Gabbert.

RESPONSE: True and in fact, I am a Dolphin fan because of Bob Griese who was the ultimate "Brain" at quarterback but we are a pretty weak team now and a thinker is not going to have a helluva lot of time behind our line. I think Pennington is about, next to Brady, the best brain in the NFL and you see how much it helped him playing behind a team of ours in past years that was better than the one we have now.

Chryen B,

Not to be argumentative but i must disagree with you on a few points you made. Peyton Manning is the best brain at QB in the NFL. hands down. Also, Luck is extremely accurate. The huge knocks on all the other top QBs of this draft is their lack of accuracy. Coincidentally, Manning and Brady and Brees and Rodgers, are all known for having outstanding accuracy. This is why Luck was being touted as the number one pick. Along with his great intangibles, mobility, pocket presence, and smarts. He is the total package.

Agreed. Who would you guys rather have right now? Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers. We can do fine with Gabbert. We don't need Luck.

Are you implying Gabbert is the next Aaron Rodgers and Luck is the next Manning?

If so, I think the Luck analogy is somewhat apt but the Gabbert analogy is totally wrong.

To answer your question, I would rather have Rodgers.

Whatever. Luck has been compared to Manning in many respects. I'm just pointing out, what does it get you to have the best QB in the league if the rest of your team is falling apart (i.e. Indy). Gabbert may be a lesser QB than Luck, but all accounts suggest he'll be very successful in the NFL regardless.

Like you said if you dont have the team around him.

So why waist our ONLY DRAFT PICK IN THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS on a f.cking player that is a 50/50 and still needs time to develop.

Its stupid. I.E LIONS GO LOOK AT HOW THAT WORKED OUT FOR EM!!!

We can have a stacked o-line and QB next year, if we spend everything on Gabbert this year, then wow we MIGHT become 8-8. I would say more like 6-10 especially since our O-line blows.

RESPONSE: Oh hell, let's argue. Let's not be shy. This is the off-season. We're having fun.

Peyton Manning is
> the best brain at QB in the NFL. hands down.

RESPONSE: I respectfully disagree. I think that Peyton is a thinking quarterback but more of a physical talent QB than he is a thinking QB and less of a thinking QB than Brady and that Brady is more of a thinking QB than he is a mechanics QB or a "has the tools" QB like Manning is.

I've seen Brady think his way out of a jam on numerous occasions and I've rarely seen Peyton think his way out, I've more seen Peyton physical (includes passing arm) his way out of jams.

Finally, Brady can take a team full of hard charging gumbies like Welker and Woodhead and dominate the Won-lost category (14-2) whereas Peyton can have one of the most talented teams around him and only come up with a 10-6 record.

Nawwwww, Peyton is more talent than brains and Brady is more brains than talent, that's why Peyton went number 1 and Brady was not drafted until the sixth round.

But kudos to Brady. He showed the world that, even in a physical sport like football, it's brains that count.

I agree that Brady is very smart and can do a lot with a little. But remember that Manning was working without Dallas Clark, with a depleted receiving corps, and without Addai for long stretches this season. Plus Manning has a worse offensive line.

I would argue that Manning does more before the snap than anyone QB in the league. This is what I consider to be the brain part of playing QB, along with reading the defense during the play.

As far as physical skills, I would say that Manning has slightly superior ability in most areas.

They are both great brains with great physical tools so its pretty much 1a and 1b

Because QB's after the first round (and the journeymen retreads we have been picking up) are 05/95 if that.

If we use our # 1 pick to try and build say, an offensive line like some want, here is the problem I see.

It takes several good players able to function as a unit to build a good O-line. As you have said even a first round pick is 50-50. So, EVEN if we do get an elite LINEMAN we still don't have an elite LINE, it would take several non-bust draft picks AND they would have to jell as a unit AND we have to hope pick 1 and 2 don't get hurt, or take big contracts elsewhere, etc before picks 3-4 work out.

I would much rather see us build an O-line through free agency like Atlanta has and use our high draft picks on players who can make a difference at their position, by themselves, for some time to come - QB namely, although I wouldn't be terribly disappointed with Ingram.

You get what you pay for sometimes, but you ALWAYS get what you don't pay for.

After the HC and OC searches/hires, I'm starting to become afraid that is this teams problem. We pay for nothing so we get nothing.

Fine go pay all the money for Mankins, make Incognito our Center, and draft another Guard first round, and Tackle second round.
