What are Jets fans saying about Pennington now?

Anybody know? Dumbest move I've seen in years, and it's great that it was the Jets who did it.

I suspect the Jets fans really miss Pennington, and they are cursing Jets management for making that short-sighted decision at the beginning of the season. Not to take anything away from Brett Favre who is one of the greatest quarterbacks who ever played the game, and he is also a great human being. The pro football game is very physically demanding, and I think once one gets up into the late thirties, it is tough to keep taking the punishment.

I could care less what Jest fans say. They are all a bunch of turds, in the toilet with their team.

I saw this play on TV--can you elaborate? Did the geniuses in the stands think the INT was the cheerleaders' fault or are do they have ugly chicks on their squad this year?

Well, I don't know what the Jets fans are saying about Chad but I'd like to say something to the people responsible for his being cut from the team...Thanks for giving us your quarterback! Such a wonderful gift! I didn't think y'all had it in you to be so charitable to us Dolfans!winking smiley

Chad Pennington showed a lot of class by not gloating, and by remaining humble. The NYJet fans are not a real classy bunch but that goes back many years.

You sure can tell what the NYJet management felt about yesterday's game, however, as their first act this morning was to fire "Mangenius" as they once called him.

I am sure the Jet fans will be licking their wounds and nesting for several months now, but a few of the lowlives will continue to come onto our website here and harrass us. There have been fewer of them since the game yesterday really put an exclamation point on their season. Remember what J-E-T-S stands for: Just End the Season !!!!

I see Romeo Crennell in the Jets future...and a long, long, long, long, long, long search for a QB.

ahahahahahahahah!

Maybe they can swing another trade with GB for Brian Brohm this time.

ahahahahahah!

They passed on Joe Flacco, Chad Henne and Brian Brohm this year for Gholston and Dustin Keller.

ahahahahahahah!

Gholston was a whiff, but I still think Keller will pan out. Still remember many on this board wanting us to pick Gholston. Thank God we took Jake!!

Oh yeah. Keller is a good TE BUT I think right about know they are wishing they had taken Brohm or Henne. It doesn't do much good to have a good TE if you have no one to throw him the ball. Favre is done and Clemens sure can't do it.

so glad they didn't though!

I live in the tristate area and listen to the fan (jets radio) every morning. Here is the lowdown on whats what

Chad- huge mistake letting this guy go what where we thinking. He not only deserves to go to the probowl but should be MVP of the league. All good talk after years of bashing him

Favre- Get lost, you costed us our season. We dont want you, why dont you retire already. You stink, you should not have gotten a probowl spot.

Mangine- YOu stink, horrible play calling, you deserve to be fired. So long good riddens. (as you can see the ny fans are like the eagle fans, they only love you if your winning)

Future outlook- #1 coach wanted is Cower, he has let the jets know that he is interested but only if he has full control. They have a gm who is good friends with the owner so it is either keep the gm or get cower who will get his own guys in... the owner is leaning towards the gm over cower (jet fans are livid) #2 marty schottenhymer, #3 steve spagnola (G-men) #4 rex ryan (baltimore)

probably more info that the average dolphan cares to read but their it is...

Anyhow my understanding is he ducked out of it and never had it done... hummm, if this is true I wonder why.

We've all seen it happen with old boxers. They just don't know when to hang it up and quit.

Even the greatest of all time, Muhammad Ali, fought way past his time.

Sometimes old football players are like that.

Anybody with half a vision could see that it was time for Bret to hang it up.

He thought better of it himself at the end of the prior season, but then just could not quit.

Even so, he played decently this year but it does not change the fact that it was time for him to hang it up.

He didn't last year and for his sake, let's hope he does this year.

Although there was a little pushing from JJ, I still thought the greatest quarterback of ALL TIME, Dan Marino, had a few years left in him but he certainly did not embarrass himself by hanging around too long.

I think that whole "I'm retired...wait! Not yet!" thing from Favre was an embarrassment to a really good quarterback. Why on earth didn't he either: 1. stay retired or; 2. not retire in the first place? He obviously hadn't thought it through entirely. I'm glad that when Dan retired, he retired. He didn't embarrass himself or become the joke of late-night television hosts.

It's called HEART and love of the game...unlike some other pansie ass RB named after a torch or the other cry baby from Detroit who took their ball and went home.

The crying was embarrassing though.

Pennington used to be loved in NY as well. Eventually they set their sights higher than just making the playoffs and wanted a QB with a bigger arm who could keep Ds honest.

So my question for yall is, are you happy with Pennington in the long term? Do you think this is a guy who could take you to the Super Bowl?

Yes. Sparano and Henning have put in plays and gameplans that play to Pennington's strengths. We have a better running game and defense than NY had for most of the years Chad was there. Chad is also healthy. If Trent Dilfer could win a SB for you guys, Chad can certainly win one for us.

I don't get it. You Ravens fans are still in denial. Your organization was so unhappy with a QB that won a SB "with" you, that you had to replace him (with Elvis Grbak, etc...). You guys are JUST recovering from that debacle. Why the heck you ever got rid of Dilfer I'll never understand, but give credit where credit is due. If you guys didn't score any points, you wouldn't have even made the playoffs...let alone win the SB!!

Wow dude! I can't believe you're throwing Pennington under the bus like that. If you want to talk "weak armed" QBs, just look at NFL history. Trent Dilfer was notorious for his "weak arm", but he won a SB. Bob Griese and Joe Montana weren't not known for their arm strength either.

Being a QB isn't just about throwing long passes down the field. Teams that believe that usually fail. A QB's job, first and foremost, is to lead the offense. That means read the defenses and put the team in the right position for the play to succeed. If that means dink-and-dunk, hand to the RB, whatever, you do what you need to do. You also need to motivate the players around you and get them to play at a high level. Some QBs can do that, some can't. It's the ones who do (Vince Young, for example) that usually win games.

We're not in denial, ditching Dilfer was a controversial move that was not received favorably by the fanbase. That was a move Billick pushed hard for. It obviously was a poor one, although understandable as Grbac was a pro bowler the year before. I think what hurt us even more the following season was Jamal Lewis' injury. We had Terry Allen coming out of retirement to replace him, not exactly the same back. Speaking of 2001, I think that was the last time yall were in the playoffs, and I think you played us in the wild card, and I think we won 20-3 despite Grbac being our QB. winking smiley

I wouldn't say we're JUST recovering from the debacle either, as we went 13-3 two years ago.

Lets all hope that you don't make a similar mistake, getting greedy and ditching Chad for a QB who actually downgrades your team.
