When is this guy going to learn, to stop saying foolish things...
The day Ryan Tannehill gets his jersey and number, Ross says, he hopes to retire Ryan Tannehills #17 Jersey in the future...
Was that really neccessary? Besides the fact that it is almost a jinx to say something stupid like that on a player a day after you draft him....Forget about, he is should sit for a while.. People on NFL network laughed at him after Darlington reported it to the panel... Mr Ross really bothers me with his BS... He needs to get out of the media, he is not remotely good for the organization in the spotlight... It is his ego, and star chasing that drives him to be in every photo op and media junket.
We dont care about Hype, we dont care about, Celebrity, we want wins...Drop all of the other cr*p, until you win.. Once you win, then you can act like a moron all you want...lol
You want to know how smart this organization is, they host Finfest at the stadium today, going head to head, with the largest public event in south florida... The air and sea show.... smh... These guys need to hire someone with a clue...

Truth, that is my point, it reminded me of his predictions about Henne.. You dont say sh*t like that... It is like Rex Ryan guranteeing his team last year in the SUperbowl.. Or Jerry Jones trying to sell his BS... it doesnt help anything, it is foolish ego..
Dolphaholic- I dont need to lighten up, Mr Ross should stay behind the scenes.. He is horrible at it.. You would think a friend would at least have the courage, to say hey STeve, you arent really good at this..SO, in case you havent heard it before... It is better to be thought a fool and remain silent, then open your mouth and remove all doubt...
WHo cares if Ross isnt going anywhere, should i not comment about anything stupid he says or does because he isnt going anywhere?
If Irsay, even the schmuck that owns the Redskins, didnt come out and say something like that to the public a day after drafting Luck and RG3.. You keep your mouth shut...

Truth it didnt come across as you describe. The enitre panel on NFL network, including Casserly, Eisen, etc laughed at him and made at joke his expense. So I guess I wasnt the only one...

I saw it as Darlington reported it and the NFl panel made him ROss look foolish, That is Ross's problem, no matter how he meant it, on National TV he looked foolish.. and it was foolish of him...

If you haven't I'd tell you to watch it and draw your own conclusions not listen to 3rd party accounts but I think you've already decided what your conclusions are on the subject.
I think you are being absurdly critical of the guy on this.
As for the national media...who cares? They've been wrong about nearly everything that's gone on with this franchise this off-season.
top story on nfl.com was "ross wants to tannehill's number." no matter how it was meant, given ross history of saying stupid things that come back to haunt him (henne/better than marino) and how we are perceived nationally, the easiest thing in the world is just not to make comments predicting greatness from our draft picks. adds unnecessary pressure and you can bet if tannehill struggles we will hear about this comment again. just shut up ross---it is really easy to do, particularly when everyting you look like an even bigger tool than you are

He owns the team. If the man wants to say RT is the next Peyton Manning, he's within his rights to do so. When you make enough money to go buy the team and shut him up, do it. Because that's the only way it's going to happen.
The only thing Ross is guilty of in my opinion is hoping for his team and the people on it to become the best at what they do to the point that people will have to recognize them as such. I see nothing wrong with it short of him phrasing things more delicately, like Truth said. Saying "hope" instead of "guarantee". Things like that, etc.
And lets be honest, regardless of the comment or how it is made, if this team was successful at the moment, you guys would back his mouth.
yeah he owns the team and can do what it wants. obviously even when it makes the team look foolish. I mean, why not, it's his? doesn't mean we can't point out he's being a tool and not helping

Never said you couldn't point it out Berk. My point is while he might say the occasional thing that makes him seem like he has way too much confidence in his players abilities, I think that calling him a tool for it and bashing the guy to the level I see here is a bit much.

He didn't even say "I" hope....he said "Let's" hope...
Everyone should just watch the clip and draw their own conclusions.
i just don't like ross. maybe it's the dorky picture of him holding a football they always show. we were spoiled with previous owners---stayed out of the way and kept their mouths shut. they were never the story, like ross is now, and it's never in a positive way

Yeah that same confidence that Lebron James had when he said he would bring 7 championships, during a local fan rally, and it was horrible foolish idea to say that, and so is this... Just keep your mouth shut and let the team do the talking...But Ross doesnt believe in the teams play doing the talking... That is his first mistake... Once you make a comment like that, you hurt yourself.. Motivators and most coaches knows this.. Ross doesnt... He thinks the celebrity, and foolish owners should sell your team message...lol

One thing is for certain fellow Dolphin aficionados, the owner is right down the line Wall Street mentality. Will have to wait now until we see, what Ryan can do eventually in his QB role. So far what I have seen recently under this regime is nothing but a Huizenga Wannstedt 2nd Republic copy. Let's hope this 3rd will no go that path for we know now, how that previous one turned out.
Huizenga was at least smart enough to not talk about players to anyone.. I asked him before about players and the team, and the asnwer he would give even not in public, were like, yes we are trying hard and look forward to the team improving and getting on track...

I heard a smart man once tell me, that when you talk about something before the action of doing it... It steals the action from your plan, and you are just left with self loathing talk..
