Ryan Tannehill = Chan Henne
Posted by: DolfanKing ()

Looking at the NCAA highlight reels both, I don't see the difference. Both can complete a pass as long as its shorter than 10 yards. Both choke and throw INTs when it matters.

Another Ireland pick. Second round talent with first round money. They don't say its a reach for nothing.

Expect Ryan and his college coach to be drummed out of town in three years.

At least his wife is hot.

Now that I've read your post, I know you are.

Such a bad comparison. Come on!!

Cluesless is thinking this isn't a reach. Nearly every major news outlet has called this a reach.

Chad Henne's college stats - average per pass and pass rating - look eerily similar to Tannehill's. Coming out of college 4 years ago, Henne was given higher regard than Tannehill. Henne was thought to be a legit late first round QB. The only reason Tannehill showed up in the first round of any mock drafts is because EVERYONE knew the Phins were desperate.

And looking at the film, I just don't see what the big deal about Tannehill his. The out passes are not crisp. There is no accuracy beyond 10 yards. I've seen this all before.... it was called Chad Henne.

Just picking a QB at #8 doesn't mean the QB is any good. It just means Ross can sell more tickets for the next couple of years before everyone figures out they've been duped.

I totaly disagree, I have enough faith in Philbin and his development of Aaron Rodgers that I believe this will work. The kid is going to be working behind two seasoned veterans who have been in the trenches and he has the physical ability for us to finnally have our franchise QB. I think the biggest QB bust in this draft which the future will show is going to be Andrew Luck. When it mattered most for Stanford last year Luck couldn't get it done against decent competition. If Stanford played in the SEC, there's no way Luck would have been picked 1st overall.

Manning came out of the SEC, Luck comes out of Stanford, and against Stanford's competition Chad Henne would have looked like Peyton Manning....which he's not.

Just my opinion....time will tell.

Stevie Wonder can see that Henne/Tannehill had nothing, absolutely nothing in common when it comes to playing the QB position.

He has working knowledge of the system. Hopefully this is the Ace up his sleeve and starts and gives us a shot. Plus he has mobility to help him out of a bad spot so our line doesn't have to be spectacular every play.

Say you don't like him , fine. At least give a accurate reason why.

You make as much sense comparing him to Henne as, He is the same as Tom Brady becuase he has a Hot wife.....

Everyone's a critic. You have to wonder why someone registers last night and now every post is about how bad RT is going to turn out. Your reasoning is flawed and flat out just WRONG.

Try trolling somewhere else. Chuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmp.

I am a huge Chad Henne fan. I am biased toward Michigan players and I have always defended Henne on this board.

That said. Ryan Tannehill is a better athlete than Chad. He throws better on the run. He has better size than Chad. And he is more intelligent. They are definitely not the same player.

You say that Henne could only complete passes less than 10 yards. If you knew Henne's college career, he completed tons of deep passes, just ask Braylon Edwards and Mario Manningham. The short pass was something he needed to work on. As for Tannehill throwing lots of short passes, welcome to the West Coast Offense. The WCO is built on using the passing game as the running game with short passes to guys in space.

Choking in the clutch? Did you know that in the redzone, Tannehill completed 65% of his passes with 18 TD and 1 INT?

No such thing as a reach if you land a good QB.

If Ryan Tannehill = Chad Henne.. does that mean that Chad Henne could have played wide receiver? Hmm... not seeing it.

Give our new QB a break. Until we see RT under center taking snaps and performing in the first couple of pre-season games no body knows what he'll be capable of doing. Right now, we should all be optimistic ( smileys with beer ) because we finally have a #1 prospect at QB on the team.

The next order of business is finding another WR who will improve our offense under the new scheme of play. We pick #42 in the 2nd round, and I believe it will be a WCO type WR.

Hey DK,

Just read an article that said, regarding accuracy issues and completion %, that further film review showed that his receivers had at least 70 drops. That's 7-0.
With at least half of those caught, RT's completion % pushes up closer to 70%.
And as far as guts, rushing yards/TDs, mobility, and escapability? Henne needed a dictionary to understand what those things are.

Tannehill is a continuation of the mediocrity that has plagued this team over the past 12 years.

Tannehill has done nothing of note in college. The expectation of a top 10 QB is to put the team on his back and WIN, but Tannehill's only year as a start yielded a very pedestrian 7-6 record. Statistically, RT isn't even the greatest the QB from a school of historically less than average QBs. That would be Jerrod Johnson who is currently riding the pine in Pittsburgh.

Just because a QB is drafted top ten doesn't mean he will be a great QB. Those who like to say this point to the statistics that about half the top ten QBs end up being great. But what about the other half that are busts? I'm seeing 3 QBs drafted top ten this year. I'm not going to be the one putting money on Luck or RG3 as the busts.

This pick clear is a red meat pick for all those demanding a QB in the first round. Ross needs to keep the circus going, Ireland is going to do anything to keep his job, and the new head coach knows what happened to Cam Cameron. This pick may buy the second floor some time, but the truth is Tannehill is not a first round quality QB, and after three years we are far more likely to realize that RT is just another Chad Henne than the next Joe Montana.

When I see Tannehill, I'm looking at a an average arm QB that has never won a thing. He may have potential, but then so do most mid second round quality QBs. And Henne had just as much potential.

At least Lauren is hot.

So I say something you don't like and I'm a troll?

Trolls usually like and make up facts. Trolls are unreasonable. I'm being perfectly reasonable. I'm looking at the facts.

Tannehill is a mid-second round quality QB at best. He has nothing but potential. And while A&M is known for solid academics, it isn't for its known for its QBs. Tannehill posted a very average 7-6 record last year, and lost the only big bowl game he played in.

Right now, the only thing Tannehill has going for him is that he was drafted at #8. Lets hope that takes him through his first pick six.

You may not like it, that is your right. But don't call me a troll just because I see this differently.

Crowder,

I totally respect that opinion of a fan. But this troll is screaming that Tannehill is already a bust.

But you are a liar. You try and tell me that you are here " only telling facts", but yet every post is "Tannehill is a bust".

Exactly.

I don't see Tannehill doing anything out of college of any more significance than Henne.

The ONLY possible advantage I see with Tannehill over another second round quality QB is that the OC was his college coach. But, honestly, that makes me worry a bit about the OC .

I never said "Tannehill is a bust".

The problem with some people on some chat boards is that they read one little thing they don't like and then blow it out of proportion and start telling themselves they are reading something they aren't.

You're opinions aren't the center of the universe. Get over it.

I am. And yes, I don't like the pick.

Had we taken Tennehill in the second or third round, I wouldn't be ranting. But a top ten QB - we are married for the next 4 years. And if he isn't a top tier NFL QB, it will end bad. Real bad.

That's the nuts and bolts of the whole situation.

If he's good, he'd have been worth the 3rd pick.

If he doesn't pan out he wouldn't be worth the mr irrelevant pick.

There's no way to know right now. Only time will tell.
