At the time of writing this,Cliff Avril cant agree terms with the Lions, why cant we talk to him?.If we got him,it clears the way for our first pick to be Tannehill surely, otherwise we will be waiting another season for a franchise qb because it looks nailed on that we will use the first pick for Melvin Ingram...just a thought.
Just as a side note...please dont bring Tebow and ill piss my pants if Manning goes on ir after the first game.
As i said it was just a thought, but judging by "he wouldnt want to play here anyway",well Ryan Clark,Joey Porter and the like must be right then!!So ill wait for Jake Long to be asking for a trade?Dansby will want a return ticket to the Cards will he?...and if we cant afford Avril, wtf were we contemplating Manning for then.
Im as narked about the situ as you are Berkeley, but even in the darkest of times for this franchise,we still have to say positive right?
I'm just being realistic. We won't sign any big time FA unless (1) we way overpay him or (2) no other team wants him. We don't have the $ for (1), and Avril is too good to fit within 2.
By my count, there's about $5-6 Million left, and the "Rookie reserve" has already been taken out. That's w/o restructuring anyone. We have more than enough for 1 solid F/A, w/o doing much more at all. And there could be $$$ left for "cap" victims/aging players with some gas left in their tank who still want to play Football, with just a little well-done restructuring.
That's not the problem: common sense seems to be.

Well, for starters, the Lions franchise tagged him. That puts his salary around $11M for this year, and we can't come close to that. And if we did sign him, it would cost us our first round picks in 2012 and 2013.
