and that "good" year was as a caretaker QB who threw fewer passes than any other QB in the league. no upgrade from moore, IMO, and we will probably make him one of the top 5 highest paid QBs in the league.
Yeah he did such a great job leading that great secondary with such studs as Sean "Toast" Smith and the rotating cast of scrubs at the other safety position.

I wouldn't say first. I think the way he handled the Soliai situation was fine. I think he did the best he could with trading Marshall. I think Richard Marshall was a solid signing. I am glad he didn't overpay for Flynn. I don't know about the Hicks' signing, or giving $1.9M to Murtha. I think those are both questionable.
But, they needed to free up cap space no matter what. So, you knew cuts were coming. I figured Tony McDaniel was good as gone. Dansby would be the ideal salary to unload, but he counts over $12M against the cap this year and no other team is going to touch him at that price. And it would cost us money to cut him this year, so there is no savings there. I think Richie Incognito is making more than he's worth. So, yeah, I thought McDaniel and Incognito were both more likely to get cut than Bell.
And it's probably not smart to extend Long to save money. His option for 2013 already kicked in, so you have another year to make sure he gets healthy before you extend him.
Bell was the clear leader of that defense. He's led the team in tackles every year since Zach left. He is a liability in coverage now, so I understand it from that point. But, they have no obvious in-house replacement. Reshad Jones has shown nothing, and Clemons is even worse. And I think the leadership will be missed.
That said, if this team is headed for Ryan Tannehill, then it's full rebuilding mode. And they may as well start dumping salary and get the cap in good shape for 2013.

No we reached an agreement with David Gerard... any idea how to handle that truth????
Lets see a Good guy, leading Tackler on the team, Good leader whats he have one year left on his contract? Yea good idea to release him and create another hole on this team... So now we created a need for a WR and now a Safety.. and we have added nothing of value... Oh yea great Master plan...

National pundits at all putzes! I wouldn't look to them for knowing squat! They are almost always wrong.
We need to stop getting sucked into their acting like they know what's happening; when [b]all they are doing is creating a story[/b
They win either way, cause when they get caught being dead wrong, they get you and the rest of the fans all supporting their being wrong with angst against the franchise. - BS!
As fans we really need to get off the media coolaid, and think about what we would do if it was our money being spent ...
1. yes I want a great QB, the wheels are still in motion! Stay tuned
2. No we are not step children because we didn't get Manning. The same media putzes that are getting everyione riled at the franchise cause they were wrong created furvor and also diminished chances of signing manning by chasing him around like a bunch of paparatsies (sp?)
3. Great deal on Solai, and we actually overpaid for him last year, but would have lost him to FA if we didn't tag him.
- Great move
4. I have to think that Philbin didn't see the value there for both of the FA whiffs, may mean Tannehill, may mean waiting.
5. I hope Bell gets resigned for less, cause I like him, but he wasn't worth what his number was.
Let's not fall on our swords over this, most of all Let's not be manipulated by the DUMB A$$ pundits - They know SQUAT!
(Sorry didn't mean for all that red color)

Ha! Sure, because some guy in Denver or Seattle is really dialed into what type of roster we have. Heck, most of them were listing us as a destination for Tebow...which is beyond absurd.
And most of the probably don't even remember that we were 1-15 only 6 years ago under a clueless Cam Cameron and had just flushed the #9 overall pick on a kick returner and his family.
I know they need to stir the pot to sell papers, get clicks and viewers so they sell whatever misery they can find or contrive.
You, and we as fans, should know better.
Right now you have a team that is a middle of the road team. Its FAR more talented than most of the teams we've had post Wannstedt. The only problem we have is that we still don't have a franchise QB but that doesn't change the FACT that after Chad Pennington, Moore is the best QB we've had post-Marino.
Three weeks ago all those pundits were saying we were the odds on favorite to get Manning. How'd that work out for them? Turns out Manning valued relationships and money over everything else. They had us as a "legit" super bowl contender with Manning. Now without him, we are at the lowest point in our history?
