Here is a nice quote from Him on the Offense:

Quote:
He'll wait to fill the playbook until all the players are in hand.

"The best offense is the one that makes best use of the players' talents,'' he said.

Thats the #1 reason that Saprano is gone. the man just coudn't adapt. Its refreshing to hear this from the new staff.

My main fear with hiring Philbin was what kind of staff he'd be able to assemble, I was pleasantly surprised when he landed a good, experienced OC like Sherman.thumbs up

Says Tannehill is a winner and that he's the kind of player that makes those around him better...I wonder what Philbin thinks?

I hate to beat a dead horse but, I don't see it with Sherman or Tannehill. My Razorbacks beat A&M 3 straight years and Sherman's conservative playcalling was a big reason. Check out how many big leads A&M blew this year. If we are going to draft someone like Tannehill, thats settling for mediocrity in my book. I keep up with the SEC and Big 12 and the guy I really liked was the qb at Oklahoma State. Just my 2 cents worth.

Good input arkiefinsguy. I didn't watch a ton of A&M this year but from what I saw it seemed like the biggest problem was that the defense couldn't hold a lead. A&M scored quite a few points but the defense always blew it in the 4th quarter. I also noticed quite a few dropped passes. I'm not disagreeing with you but these things played a part in the games I did watch and they played a part in the blown leads as well. I didn't notice the playcalling so much but I only saw a couple A&M games this year.

Thats a good point about the A&M defense. They played a large part in those blown leads.

Well, let's be realistic. Everything ANYBODY says who is not a draft analyst like Mel Kiper who is paid on the basis of his reputation for making the right picks for every team....and by ANYBODY I thus mean anybody connected on ANY TEAM who makes any statement about the draft is in effect raising a smokescreen ANY TIME they talk.

If you are a team, why would you ever talk up a guy that you truly want to draft because all you are going to do is drive up his price to you.

On the other hand, if you don't like a guy, why would you say he is not that good and thus result in some other team NOT taking him and THEN TAKING SOMEONE YOU MIGHT THINK IS GOOD.

So never believe anything anyone connected with any team says about any draft choice.
