And seems poised to hire Greg Schiano from Rutgers as its new head coach.
Sherman in Miami now working on deal to become OC.
Can you imagine what would have happened on this site if we had backed off more experienced candidates and the hired a guy who has had only so-so results in the weakest BCS conference? OMG..
I am worried about our ability to put together a staff, esp on the D side. If Sherman went to TB, I'd have big concerns about the O side as well--what experienced OCs are out there? And since Philbin never called plays, it's important we get someone who has experience in there. So I am glad Sherman didn't go to TB and hope he comes here.
We REALLY should've kept Nolan. I am worried about our D now, and not thrilled that we now have needs to fill on the D side with a switch to primiarily a 4-3. We need a good MLB and I don't see one on the roster. Also we now need a 4-3 end opposite Wake.
Mike Sherman was 25-25 at Texas A&M, a university with outstanding football facilities, great tradition, and located in a state loaded with top notch recruits.
I miss Zach Thomas. We need a Side line to side line killer again. he never missed a Tackle and it made everyone else play that much better. Get him in here to at least coach. Go over film and teach them the way of the Zachmiester.
Charlie Weiss was a horrible college HC but I'd take him as OC in a second. Shermans' mediocre record at TA&M doesn't bother me. However, I don't really know much about him----was he considered a good offensive guy with the packers and before that?

I read that Sherman is the guy that brought the west coast offense to GB.
He set a bunch of Franchise records for passing and rushing and won 3 div titles while there.

Also in that area are powerhouses Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma St.
And as Head Coach is Green Bay, in 6 years, he led his team to 5 winning seasons, and 3 division titles.
His last year was bad, but he lost pro-bowlers Javon Walker, Bubba Franks, and Ahman Green to season ending injuries.

Sherman sounds like a good hire for OC. I would just prefer 15+ years younger. Let's hope we fill-out the staff with some dudes in the 30's and 40's rather than 50's and 60's.
