There's no denying he's a great coach, but, YES, age and perspective (since he's been out of the game for so long) is an issue.

Bring him in, give him a 1 year deal, maybe this guy can push the right buttons and make the right coaching tweaks.

If he fails can you honestly say with a straight face any other coaching candidate would of been way better?

The guy has a great coaching track record, give him a year to see if he still has it.....It's not like Gruden or Cowher are just chomping at the bit to coach here anyway.

Peterson, now Schottenheimer, might as well bring in Dave Krieg for Qb.

I didn't like the Chiefs back then, I don't want to be them now.

No need to read past that point.

If you can't see the litany of problems giving a 1 year deal to ANY HC poses, let alone a 69 year old HC 6 years removed from the league, then there's no hope for you...

in 21 seasons he had 11 that were double-digit win totals. He also only had 2 losing seasons.

...but dude is old now.

Now that is being a little far-fetched.

Shula couldnt coach his way out of a wet paper bag in today's NFL.

Marty Schottenheimer

Cleveland Browns years 1984-1988

Record 44-27

Kansas City Cheif years 1989-1998

Record 101-58

Washington years 2001

Record 8-8

San Diego Chargers 2002-2006

Record 47-33

You guys can look it up if you like but he only had 1 (count em) One losing season. KC 1998 7-9

Career Record: 200-126

Jeff Fisher

Houston Oiler/Tennessee Titans 1994-2010

142-120

6 Losing Seasons and that is all in the same team.

Sounds to me like if it was between these two the choices would be very easy

Last time I checked Ranger, Fisher doesn't have a wanabe OC of a son that hasn't done sheet with the Jets, that would sure to become our POS OC if daddy is hired. Just a thought.
