If this was last year, I'd figure we'd lose. Not this year!

Ok, you know they like to pass on the sideline, you know they're going to do it, why can't we defend against that?

I blame that on our overly conservative coaching staff. How many dink and dunks have we picked up passing the damn ball. THROW THE BALL ON 3rd and SHORT!!!

Yuck. But, how sweet was it that Porter was the one to spoil SF's win. D comes through again!

Very true. I'm happy as long as the outcome is a W. A dominant win would have been nice however.

Not at all. They weren't good enough. Their running game wasn't very good and their passing game was predictable. They made a lot of mistakes, they didn't protect their QB, and they were lucky we got a 15 yard penalty for kneeing a guy so that they could get a first down to score three points. They were lucky we missed a field goal. San Fran had tremendous problems in the red zone, and if I were them I would have gone for some 4th downs instead of field goals. Their QB could have scrambled a little better and avoided some sacks. But he didn't see them coming half the time.

Now, we were pretty fortunate to win this game, I'll admit that big time, because we caused penalties, dropped balls, and couldn't stay on the field offensively. We won because of our fast start and strong finish, and because of good special teams and field position.

Pennington seemed a little worried in his post game interview, and I can see why. We might have a nightmare of a game next week unless we can fix some things. It really hurts that Camarillo is gone, even though Bess is doing a great job. We need Ginn to be more agressive and step up his game. And we need our broken offensive line to do a better job so we can run the ball.

This is B.S. How many times last year did we say we "deserved" to win, but we blew it at the end? As far as I'm concerned, we LOST all but one game last year...fair and square. The only team that "deserved" to win today was the one that did. There weren't any bad calls by the refs that were game changers. It doesn't matter how well you play for most of the game, it matters who plays the best when it counts!! That was Miami today.

It's not one or the other. They didn't deserve to win, they weren't the better team, they did not "outplay" us. They couldn't get in the end zone, and they didn't make any big plays. We were better. But I also say we were lucky because we should have more easily won this game, but we let them stay in it to the end. We sat on our lead. But we also made big plays and finished strong, and that's what winners in the nfl do.

I don't really get into the "who deserved to win" discussions. Barring a blatantly terrible call by an official, the team that deserves to win is the team with the most points on the board at the end of the game. However, I would still call this an ugly win; and yes SF pushed us up and down the field all day. Anyone who watched the game could see that. They dominated time of possession and total yards of offense. Those are two stats that usually equate to a win unless a team is plagued by turnovers; but neither team committed a turnover. So while SF seemed to move the ball at will throughout most of the game, they failed to put the ball in the endzone. That was partly due to timely plays by the Miami defense and partly due to their QB badly missing several open receivers at critical times. In any event, I'm happy with the win. This team would not have won a game like this last year.

What would another FG have done for them at the last minute? Our lead was 5 points.

It would have sucked for sure to have a former Phins kicker beat us with a FG on the final drive though. Thank you, Joey Porter!
