The Luck Campaign
Posted by: dolfan1 ()

There is even a camapign for this:

Twelve NFL teams have been identified as contenders to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck first overall in the 2012 NFL Draft. We're only two weeks into the season, but the Suck for Luck campaign is in full swing with a few teams clearly ahead.

Leaders (not legends) in the clubhouse at 0-2:

Indianapolis Colts
Kansas City Chiefs
Miami Dolphins
Seattle Seahawks

It's clear that Indianapolis, Kansas City and Seattle are the current frontrunners for Luck, as pointed out by David Fucillo of SB Nation Bay Area. The Colts and Chiefs have both been marred by injury and the Seahawks have been marred by Tarvaris Jackson. Many are discounting the Miami Dolphins, however. Miami has to play the New York Jets and the suddenly dangerous Buffalo Bills twice each and New England on the road. Miami also gets San Diego on the road in two weeks. A Week 9 match-up with the Chiefs could be especially meaningful. Right now, this is the falling four and each would be better off with Luck – though Indianapolis more down the road.

You hit the nail on the head.

For the sake of the future of this team, it wouldn't do any good to win any games at all this season.

I love to see this team win, but not this season. I'm so finished with having these mediocre seasons. I want this team to have the 1st pick of the 2012 draft so badly it isn't even funny.

Oh yeah, we're trolls alright eye rolling smiley

For what? For wanting to get the the best draft prospect for this team? For wanting the GM & coach to take a hike because they suck?

Go ahead and be satisfied with what you have now to cheer for. Go ahead and embrace the comedy & disgrace this franchise has become.

Whatever blows your blouse up dude.

You guys seriously think if we had the 1st overall pick this organization would pick Luck?

This is what would happen, The Dolphins would trade down and gather as many picks as possible because we have Chad Henne to build around and he's improving.

There's no way we would take Luck 1st overall if we had the pick, that's just the way the organization is, we needed a franchise QB bad and do we select Matt Ryan? no...not that I'm not happy with Long but the organization has something against QB's in the first round.

Re: The Luck Campaign

@ razorghost -

Deep down that's what I'm afraid of, & it wouldn't surprise me.

Somebody needs to smack Ross in the noggin with a golf club to wake him up to reality. Look how lame the Colts offense is with a lesser caliber QB than Manning.

I do admit Henne has improved some. Unfortunately, he can't close a game for the life of himself. I obviously don't have as much faith in him as others do, and that's because I think he'll always be a bonehead. Perhaps I've been traumatized for too long? lol

In all actuality, there's so much that needs to be fixed. It starts at the top. Even the ownership of this team seems to be a fiasco. The way it's managed. The way it's coached. Everything. Such a once proud & respected franchise has gone to complete & utter crap, and it's been a long time in the making.

If you guys would root half as enthusiastically for your team to win as you do for it to lose, we'd have the best fans in the entire world.

We are good fans. Whats the purpose of winning against Kansas City?

Getting the second pick instead of the first pick overall?

Lets face it man, this team is a mess. And all we are asking for is a change.

We are such good fans we are willing to sacrifice and hope to lose every single game...... against our will of course......in order to improve this team in next years draft.

Fire all the coaches and get a coach with some credibility in here that the players look up to and respect and we will talk next year.

Well, we will keep talking now, i mean we will see what happens next year.

PS. There are better odds of the world ending tommorrow than the phins making the playoffs this year.

What's the purpose of following the sport of football, if you don't want to your team to win football games?

To me, there's a purpose to winning in almost every game. I know I'm in a 0.00000000000000001 % minority of people who think that way, but I like my team to show up on game day and play to win.

Let's face this: no matter what pick we get in the draft, the team management is NOT going to pick the players the fans want about 90% of the time. Thus paving the way for more disappointment during the offseason and the following season, in the form of "aw geez, if only we would have drafted the guy *I* wanted, we'd have won these first three games...oh well, let's tank the season so I can go work on my draft board a few extra months ahead of time."

This is only one of the several reasons why I care about my team playing games on game day, rather than spending more than 3/4 of an entire regular season wanting my team to lose in order to be in a higher position in the draft next year, so that I could turn around and criticize the draft choices anyway.

I guess that's the modern definition of a good fan. My goal is to WIN every single game.

I can't argue with that. I have given Sparano & company the benefit of the doubt for way too long. Time to move on.

I thought that was next year (the world ending....2012....? Don't know, I didn't see that movie or read the book).

Nit a loser thread, it's better we lose now and build for the future than to win here and there and continue the mediocrity we have had for a long time. Hope SD smashes us, it will wake Ross up.

LOL HAHA....JC you make sense in everything you say.....Just put me down for wanting to win the rest of the way....But wont be disapointed if we get blown out and lose the game..

Im taking it easy the rest of the year.

I will even go as far as saying i wont be disapointed if we end up 0-16 and be compared to one of the worse teams of alltime....Yes im that desperate for a change........I would not had said this the year we won only one game against the ravens....At least the players were playing hard and trying to win back then.

BUT....

As long as this thing gets turned around and the phins become a contending team in the next few years im cool with losing this year..

PS....GHOTIRULE said something sunday....If we didnt blowout the browns we sucked or something like that.......Dont remember well....

After that the game kept going on and we didnt blowout the browns and.........we lost ..........After the game ended i took a cold shower and thought about it for a while i was actually relieved we lost.

I said now we are much closer to that first pick over all.....

____________________________________________________________________

How in the hell can we win a game this year if the players are trying to lose on purpose.....? Because thats what i see.....Whats the purpose of winning a game answer me that?

This team including coaches and quite a few players....should be dismantled......get rid of the dead weight....bad seeds..........

Start all over right now.

SamSam I'm not denying the existence of a bright side of having a sucky year in the form of draft position, I'm just against setting that as a goal for my team.

Once we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs (that won't take long, will it) then I will be in the "i don't care if we lose" mode.

Amen! And like I said, you don't know what you will be getting with Luck anyway.

Ryan Leaf was more heralded than Luck is now.

Or, a "there should be a sticky thread" sticky thread.

Wow, SamSam. You are amazing. Henne is still the problem for you, isn't he?

Despite all of our problems laid bare for all to see, the only thing you can see to criticize is Henne, right? (oh, maybe the coach).

I've concluded it now, SamSam. I used to call you SamSam, the Sensible.

But I see you are one of those "The quarterback is the whole team" guys.

Every win is a credit to the quarterback and every loss is the quarterback's fault.

Last year, that position was arguable.

But in this year where every position except the kicker and punter sucks almost except Henne, who granted is playing only "average," nonetheless you STILL blame the quarterback and think that if we just had a pro-bowl quarterback, he could overcome the play of the defense, the playcalling, and EVERYTHING!

LOL No chren he is not the problem. I just want then best for this team.

The problem is a combination of everything that has already been said.

BTW everytime henne is trying a last minute comeback in the 4th quarter and he throws a pick....i feel like im going into a food coma. Deja VU All over again.

He is just too good at it.

I wish i had a time machine so i can go back to 1985.

In case you haven't noticed-the entire purpose of the NFL is to WIN. Nobody plays to lose - ever!

1000% incorrect. Was Ryan Leaf considered to be the #1 overall pick in the year BEFORE he came out and was picked #2? Luck is the concensus #1 overall this year and last.

Man, sometimes I just don't get you. You are obviouslly an intelligent person but I think you just like to argue for the sake of it (not a huge suprise since you are a lawyer, I guess)

Re: The Luck Campaign

As you have read on this board previously, berk. The only difference between the Ryan Leaf hype and the Andrew Luck hype is that Andrew Luck has no "Peyton Manning" to compete with.

Matt Barkley hardly qualifies.

That gives the optical illusion that Andrew Luck is considered a bigger hype than Ryan Leaf.

Go back and view the link that someone provided concerning the NFL Networks, "Top 10 draft busts of all time."

There you will enter into a time machine and be able to view the hype over Ryan Leaf and like I said, the only difference is Leaf had a competitor and Luck does not.
