BTW do we agree now that we lost against one of the crappiest teams in the NFL.....Without their starting RB,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that we should suck to get the first pick overall...

And let the record show....I wanted them to win against the browns.................and i will want them to win next week against the chargers....

Just saying if they lose i wont be too disapointed anymore.....(((((.And have to take a cold shower like i did yesterday....to relax and decrease my blood pressure....))))))

There were some Indianapolis Colts fans in 1997 who said they shouldnt draft Peyton Manning, either.

Wow...were they wrong.

RESPONSE: First of all, SamSam, nobody is talking about money. Obviously.

I'm talking about draft opportunities to upgrade the team.

We don't have the luxury to afford passing up the bounty of draft picks we could get for trading out of number one to another team and what that bounty of draft picks would do to upgrade the team.

Seriously, dude!!!!!!!! I gave you credit for more intelligence than that and it seems that PhinFans2 stupidity is contagious!

Gee man you must be the only person in this wide universe and galaxy that wishes to have henne instead of a future hall of fame QB..

Maybe im wrong and you are right........I mean how many come back victories does hanne has?

And let the record show he has had many opportunities to close out game....A whole lot of them...

How many does he have.

A big fat 0.

Im sorry chren but i disagree completely...

I rather have a hall of fame Qb than henne any day of the week or any day of the year.

Btw thats what weve been doing until now............we drafted jake long instead of Matt ryan and look how good we are now.

Until we get that gem First round QB we need we wont amount to nothing.

I didn't say you were stupid. I was saying that I hoped that PhinFans2's stupidity wasn't contagious.

BTW, I'd like a Hall of Fame quarterback too BUT ONLY ALL OTHER THINGS BEING EQUAL.

If all other things are not equal, I'd rather win the SuperBowl with an average or even mediocre quarterback.

ok so stanford sucked before luck and gerhart but that is not the point. All of these commentors are saying that luck is a sure thing and the best qb prospect in the past 25 years??? huh?

Stafford, ryan, freeman, bradford, newton just off the top of my head have shown exeptional ability and that is just over the past 4 years, i have not mentioned top qb's like rivers, manning, brees, vick, brady

How can people say he is a sure thing or the best qb over the past 25 years i dont get it...

how did that bounty the colts got in 1983 work out in that trade for elway. somehow I think they'd have been better off with elway

Oh me too dont get me wrong....I agree with that 100 percent.

But we havent won any superbowls with like 13 mediaocre or average QBs that have been members of this team in the last 10 years or so.

Its time for a change chyren.

Im sick of mediocre or even good qbs.

I want a superstar QB. And there is a big chance of getting him in next years draft.

I know we wont know if he can play in the NFL. We wont know until after a couple years. But the odds are better the higher we pick in the first round.

PS. I know there has been a lot of first pick busts....But there is also payton manning.

We'll see what happens.

we've been playing the odds and percentages for years. we always trade down, never up, to get more draft picks. we always try to get a QB on the cheap or someone's cast off. it's gotten us no where. I am 37 and the team has not won a championship in my lifetime. IF we have the opportunity to get someone who has been identified as a once in a generation QB, and we don't take it, I am going to be beyond outraged. However there is no way this team doesn't take Luck with the #1 should we get it---it's just not going to happen.

I was just at the pro football hall of fame this weekend and the fact that we have not be relevant since the mid-1980s could not have been more clear. just walking around looking at all of the teams and players highlighted since the mid-1980s, not a dolphin to be found.

Maybe trade up is a good thing for this franchise.

See...Patrick Surtain........... and Daniel thomas looking good so far. Daniel Thomas is looking great so far actually..he can run between the tackles and is a very good receiver out of the backfield. He has shown nothing but positives signs.

EDIT>>>>>>>>>>>>And if you can play like that behind this miami dolphins OL then there is a lot of potential and hope for the future.

I feel your pain guys but even with the 1-15 season, I have never seen the team in such a bad shape and in need of crucial elements. We need about two more dependable offensive lineman.

We need a good and reliable fullback. I don't think Hilliard makes the grade.

Marshall is like the Lord. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. But unlike the Lord. Blesseth NOT BE THE NAME OF MARSHALL.

Hartline and Bess are good but I'd like another premier receiver.

On the defensive line, Taylor is old. That's why I wanted to draft Ryan Kerrigan.

We need a middle linebacker.

We need a whole secondary except Vontae Davis.

We need a new coach.

We need a good offensive coordinator.

We need a good defensive coordinator.

We need a new general manager.

We need completely new owners.

Are you seeing a pattern here that gives you a clue about why I am taking the position I am taking that by-passing an entire draft for the sake of rolling the dice to see if you come up with Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf is not something our team is, logically, in the position to do?

Not sure about the kicker. Hasn't he missed 3 FGs this year already?

I think Jimmy Wilson, Nolan Carrol and Vontae Davis have all showed the ability to play. Carrol had a good game against Cleveland. Jimmy Wilson is way ahead 3 games into his career as Vontae Davis was 3 games into his career thatis for sure. The let down on defense has been free safety position, Sean SMith, and both the MLB's. Teams are making quick decision with the ball which has limited the effectivness of pass rush, and then this past week Mccoy, had a great pocket presence and escaped signifigant pass rush alot...

I'm really curious why we're not trying a CB at FS. The positions aren't that different, and plenty of players in the NFL have played both. With the depth we have at CB, you think we'd give it a shot.

I agree, Jimmy WIlson played safety last year in college, but i guess with injuries and such we are more thin at corner then safety. Reshad did play better against Cleveland though, I have to give him that, he didnt take foolish risk, as he did in the previous 2 games.

I dont believe we traded up for SUrtain at all. We picked 19 in the first rd and traded back our first rd pick that year to GB, who selected Vonnie Holiday, of all people. We then took John Avery with Green Bays spot at 28 or so and then drafted surtain at 44 in the second rd, I cant find any reference to a trade up for him.It might have just seemed out of place becasue we trade back to 28 and then picked 44.

we used to pull that crap all the time under wanny, and we'd end up with garbarge like wade smith. the surtain deal was the only time it worked.

I'd hate not to have a first rounder next year too---it's the only thing making this year bearable

I agree with Reppa on this one- Dont forget many analysis said Ryan Leaf was even more of a sure thing then Peyton Manning in that draft and coming out of college Leaf was more pro ready... In 2005, many said Alex SMith was the sure thing and Aaron Rodgers was passed on by 23 other teams including us, and considered high Bust potential.

Now add into the fact that if we do continue to lose a few more early, that Sparano and most likely Ireland are toast, what incentive do either guy have in making sure our record is so bad we get the top draft pick.
Now lets add on top of that Andrew Luck is still only a redshirted Junior, so he could likely wind up staying in School another year. So these are way to many what ifs to even justify this course of action with the team and coaches at this point. It is fun bar talk, but come on....

disagree with that crowder. no one said alex smith was a sure thing, same with leaf. alex smith was #1 overall in a draft when you couldn't give that pick away---hell we took ronnie brown #2 and he didn't even start on his own team. and the argument with leaf was that he had a bigger arm and therefore more upside than manning, not that he was a sure thing. in contrast, having followed the draft obsessively since the 1980s, I don't recall a concensus around a player being a onnce-in-a-generation type guy like we are hearing about luck. could all these guys be wrong? sure. but to compare the hype around luck with the hype around other QBs taken high recently, there is no comparison.
