It's apparent that Sparano will not survive the season, it's also apparent Ross will have to make some major change here to energize the fanbase. I was at one time in favor of canning Tony S and keeping Ireland, not so sure I feel that way anymore, he has to be held partly responsible for the product on the field. It wouldn't kill me if he stayed but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he was shown the door also (he's hit on some nice players, but he's missed on a lot also). I'm torn on which candidate I would want next year, they have very good points but come with some baggage also. If Ireland stays, i'd say Fisher (dark horse being Rob Ryan). If he goes i'd say Cowher first with Chucky a close second.

I vote Rob Ryan...but only if he's ok with Nolan and Daboll. If a new HC comes in and wants to completely revamp the staff, then I don't want him. That's what Parcells did, and I'm pretty sure ALL his coaching choices, except for Sparano, are gone now.

Not sure what there lineage is, but i'm sure Rob Ryan would want total control over the D if he came here. When (not if) Tony gets canned, the only way I see Nolan sticking around is if he's the HC.

Cowher is my number one. Number two is Marc Trestman. I always thought he could be a solid NFL HC

At this point, I don't even care. I'm sure that whoever they bring in will be another clown, just the latest in a long list of clowns that started with JJ and continued through Wanny, Saban, Cameron and now Sparano.

The best coach we've had since Shula was JIM BATES. I'm so glad Huizenga decided not to give the guy a fair shot after it was blatantly obvious that the players actually played with some HEART for the guy. We sure haven't seen that since.

I agree, at least for the few games Bates coached. I wonder how good he would have been long-term, but you're right about playing with heart. The players were loyal to him the same way the Jet's players are loyal to Ryan. I WOULD like to see that here.

I thought that Bates had no desire to be the permanent head coach in Miami anyway. I wish I remembered where I read it, but supposedly he just wanted out of this organization altogether.

As I recall, he interviewed for the job and said he wanted to remain on as the HC?

I'm not sure what Rob Ryan's qualifications are to be head other than being the twin brother of the fat as* loud mouth in NY. Nice head of hair though.

The reason I included him in the poll, is because he would allow Ross to keep Ireland AND bring in a splashy named coach. If he keeps Ireland, I don't think the fanbase will get too excited about bringing in some LB coach from Dallas as the next HC. I really have no clue if he has any credentials or desire to be a HC.

I think Ireland has done a good job in most areas of the game getting talent on this football team. If there was a change I could live with, Gruden and Ireland...I like Grudens energy and think he could be an exciting coach in the right system and organization at this point in his career. That being said, I want to emphasize that I want and believe it is right to give Sparano my full support this year and not make the decision this early in the season, I dont think that is entirely fair, especially with a shortened offseason that was beyound the coaching staff control... He needs to take control and lead this team, we are only 2 games into an at least 16 game season, he has along way to go and lots oppurtunity still in front of him and our team

on a side note, if we hired Rob Ryan to be our head coach that would be one of the only things that could get me to abandon this team I have followed my entire life......

Lacanfora was just asked about coaches on the early hot seat, Todd Haley and Jim Caldwell were the only 2 he named, no mention of Tony. I'm surprised he named those 2 with the injuries they've had as much as the fact he didn't mention our team at all.

Jim Caldwell is a really bad coach in the same vein as Sparano (awful gameday coaching, time out management, etc.) but you can't blame him for Indy. That team has no talent at all outside of Manning, who is hurt.
