If this had happened weeks ago... do you think Mia would have had any interest? At this late date, I would be surprised if he's on Ireland's radar... I think...
I'm not saying that its the right move for this franchise... but it's hard to argue that Garrard wouldn't be an upgrade over Henne or Moore. Last year he threw 25 TDs, had 15 INTs, and posted a slightly better than 90 QB rating. Additionally, he's a threat with his legs which might come in handy with the human turnstile we have playing right tackle. It all really comes down to how much faith do they have in Henne? If they don't think that Henne is the franchise QB of the future, Garrard would be a pretty good stop gap player until we draft and groom a franchise QB who will take the franchise into the future. I guess we shall see. I don't see Garrard being unemployed for long.
Garrard has never been that great. And at 6'1, he certainly doesn't fit the mold of a pocket passer. And from what we know about Daboll, and his New England offense background, his system seems like it calls for a pocket passer. And another thing with Garrard, 25 fumbles the last 2 years. Then, factor in him having to learn the offense. I don't see it.
Gerrards has never been great but he's better than Henne or Orton. It's probably to late to aquire him but I don't think the phins would have taken him anyway.
I imagine he will sign with someone on Tuesday when vet money is lower.
Seattle says they are not interested. We will see Tuesday.
Seriously though....Luke McCown? GM must be trying to get rid of Del Rio.
Ya never know...we could release LJ and sign him Tuesday as well....I doubt it though. Would cause an uproar especially if we lose and Henne plays less than spectacular.
