Yep, a little bit suprised by both. Allen at 1.5 million, when they are keeping Benny Sapp at 1.9 million, made me think it was possible, he would be cut.
Larry Johnson, suprised me becasue his cost was low, with a decent upside. I am assuming that Grigsby make it as the 4th?
to be honest I dont like cutting Larry Jonhson and Grigsby. We needed someone else to be a back up to Bush and the type of player and roles he fills. I dont believe we have a player on the roster that coud fill that role if Bush misses any time. Larry Johnson and Grigsby both had that ability to play a quick scat back recieving rb. Now if Reggie is out at any time we have to change the offense to a certain degree IMO.

Larry Johnson showed nothing in the time he was with us that he could be a scat back. I don't believe that's ever been his game. I'm pretty sure he's always been a power guy.
Grigsby was too inconsistent, so he won't do either. The guy we really should have tried to keep was Patrick Cobbs.
I still wish we had kept Ricky Williams as a 3rd down back. We don't have any bull rushers. The kind of play that Bush, Daniels play you need a competent O line opening holes. I'm not confident at all.

Daniels is a very physical back, but he's not the level of Ricky or Ronnie. At this stage of his career, Ricky isn't a bull rusher anyway. Ronnie was, but he always seemed to be hurt. Physical RBs rarely have long careers anyway. I'm hoping Daniels evolves into that kind of back. In the meantime, Lex Hilliard is the closest thing we have.
I like Lex. He's Solid. But rickey had great hands, he went side to side , and up the middle , and injuries were rarely a problem. He was good for the Locker room too. Not expensive. Mistake letting him go. That was Tony's ego.

First off Patrick Cobbs played well three years ago, maybe if we had Hudson Houch and Patrick Cobbs all would be well...lol
Larry Johnson was fast enough to get around the edge as a running back, like Reggie Bush, once we cut Sheets to sign Larry Johnson. LJ was the only guy who could play Reggie Role if Bush was to get hurt.. Sorry if you dont see the similarity and differences, of our RB's, and what they can and can not do

I'm really surprised we cut Will Allen. I thought he had pretty much gotten healthy and was looking back to his old self, making plays in the preseason and such. Seems like he would have been a valuable guy to have on the roster at a position that we have a lot of inexperience at. I mean where does a healthy Will Allen rank among Vontae Davis, Sean Smith, Benny Sapp, and Nolan Carroll.

So you see them beating out L McCoy & R Rice respectively?

I agree, but I think the problem with Will Allen, was the team couldnt justify paying 3.4 million this year in base salary let alone possible cap hit for guys fighting for the 3th or 4 th spot, or nickel corner. So with Sapp making 1.9 and Will Alllen making 1.5. One of those 2 guy were going to go, unless one of them unseated Sean Smith, which wasnt happening. They obviously liked Benny Sapp more IMO. Carrol ,Wilson, even Sean Smith are making peanuts. Smith is due to make less then 500 grand this year in base salary..Vontae Davis is slated to make $676,000 in base salary. Davis being a first rd pick has a larger cap hit becasue of his prorated signing bonus.
But still you get the point. Our one and two corners combined base salaries, was 2/3 of what we were paying Will Allen base salary in 2011 for the number 4 CB spot. Granted he didnt have a big signing bonus prorated on his contract, but you get the idea...

I agree that I think Ronnie will be a signifigant player on the Eagles. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is really good, and once we went ot wildcat we failed to use Ronnie as a reciever. They will use Ronnie Brown like Brian Westbrook IMO, and he is a better reciever then MCcoy. With Vicks styles, and Ronnie Browns versatility, combined with Ronnies locker room presence . I think Ronnie will have a rebirth of sorts in Philly
As far as Ricky goes, I am just not sure, how the Ravens are going to use him yet. So I am not sure about what type of year he will have. Do I think our offense held them back yes. Did they look weak and not into it as far as making the first guy miss last year, and hold our offense back at times... Yes.. So I think it was a good time for everyone to move on for all sides.
