I have been on this site since the Shula years. I have never had a thread merged into another one. This season it has happened twice.

I question the necessity.

There was a thread about WR's.

I posted one about Ginn.

They are discreet discusssions. Similar topic but different.

I don't mind when other people reset an old discussion that has gone on a tangent. I don't mind if someone starts a new thread that is similar to one I started if they have a different point of discussion.

Why are we suddenly getting so focussed on merging similar topics? This is new; and personally I find it annoying....with all due respect to the effort you are putting in to moderate.

Personally I prefer more shorter threads than fewer longer ones. I make a point of checking to see if the 'same' discussion is going on before I create a new one.

thanks for listening.

We have four pages of discussion on Landshark Lager Beer (or whatever the name is) which has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the Dolphins in particular or FOOTBALL IN GENERAL. It remains open on the discussion board.

Yet, when one of the most significant football players in recent NFL history has been released from prison and the burning question is whether he will be let back in FOOTBALL IN GENERAL or the Dolphins in particular,.............................................

our moderators closes that thread on the grounds that "It is no longer about football and certainly not about the Dolphins, so it does not belong here."

Moderators, you have to admit that you closed the thread simply because people were getting angry at each other.

However, we are big boys, not children.

Whether Michael Vick should be allowed by the Commissioner to play again is being discussed by football fans all across the country.

Don't you think it is slightly paternalistic to close the topic here just for the sake of keeping peace on a discussion board where everyone holds hands and discusses non-controversial topics such as which beer they like or don't like?

We have had invasions from pats fans, recently bills fans, and who knows what other fans. Well when this happens I like to go onto their sites and talk a lil smack back but the problem is that they make it so hard to do.

Ex1. I went on the patsies site after they lost the superbowl and after I registered it took 24 hours before they game me the privilege to send posts in the main forum. And if you act up in the main forum saying things like "man if only you guys could have taped the giants superbowl walk through I am sure that you would have whipped them hands down" they send you to an alternative forum called "ass clown" where they say you got assclowned and you can never return to the regular forum.

Ex2. Recently bills fans were coming onto our site talkin all this ying yang about how they were going to do this and that to the fish. Well after the game I wanted to have some post game discussion with them and I could not find them on this site so I went to their site to try and get some answers to some questions I had like "so what do you think the reason was that we were able to kick the crap out of you guys like that?". The problem is that after I registered onto their site I could only post but could not create new topics until I post 25 posts and wait 7 days.

QUESTION: I was wondering what we could do to make it more difficult for these clowns to come onto our site or if the posters here even care or if we should have something like the pats have were we assclown guys that get out of hand?

Since this is our forum I think that we should decide how we should handle this... any thoughts??? opinions???

Dear Curt,

I was thinking here recently, due to all the commotion concerning certain individuals, that maybe, if at all possible, you could add a feature called the "IGNORE MEMBER" feature?

If you ignore a certain member, then you would never see their posts. Some people on here are definately targeted more than others, and it would be nice if those members who are targeted, could simply ignore the harrassers. I think its a great idea. I will give a scenario,

If I am posting, I see an idividual who is harrassing me, I can simply ignore them, I would never see their posts. And if its bad enough that others are offended, the moderators would see it and handle it thereselves.

Its hard after so many posts you keep getting attacked and attacked and attacked, to not post back and add fuel to the fire. And we all know thats its just giving those individuals joy to see others get upset. An "IGNORE MEMBER" feature, in my opinion, would help solve alot of those problems.

Trust me, I know that 99.999999% of the people on here are good hearted, Miami Dolphin loving, adults. Or atleast act like adults.

Is this possible?
