Bob Baumhower's Wings Sports Grille |
2 Locations in Birmingham - It is an excellent place to
watch a Dolphins game on Sunday. Yes, this is the Bob Baumhower that
used to play for the Dolphins. They have several satellites which can pick up
almost any game in the country and have two huge projection screens in
the bar as well as TVs throughout the restaraunt. There are various
Dolphins memoralbilia scattered throughout the restaraunt, as well as
Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and other NCAA and NFL collectables. They
even have a web site you can check out at
www.wingsportsgrille.com.

| Anchorage |
Sports Edition |
Below the Hilton. They have one big screen TV and 7 corners
where there are a group of 3 TV's... (for a total of over 20 TV's) so you
can watch 3 different games at once. The place is very crowded for the
Sunday early games, and starts to thin out for the Sunday late games as I am
sure most places do. They have an all you can eat brunch buffet for $6.99
which is pretty good. Also free popcorn. The big screen rarely gets the
Dolphins, unless it is the Sunday ESPN game, or the Monday night game.
However, if the Phins play a Sunday early game they are on most of the time.
For some reason, the way they have the Satellites set up at the "Sports
Edition" one or two Sunday early games usually doesn't get put on. But it
is very rare if the dolphins are one of the teams that doesn't get put on.
The only frustrating thing about the "sports edition" as is probably not
uncommon among sports bars on early sunday morning.... is that there is a
lot of flipping of channels and satellites the first 15 minutes of the
games, as the management is trying to get on the satellites as many games as
possible... so you are bound to be switching seats with people as the games
get put on the TV's.
|
| Anchorage |
Eddies Sports Bar |
6300 old Seward Hwy.
There
seems to be a very good Dolphins crowd at this sports bar. They have 1
big screen, which usually shows the Dolphins. There are also about 10
other TV's throughout the bar. They have an all you can eat brunch for
$7.99 as well as a full menu and bar. The head cook is a Dolfan.
|
| Arizona |
| Flagstaff |
Mulligans Pub & Grub |
at Milton Road and Route 66 Mulligans has beer, wine, mixed drinks and an
extensive menu. Well behaved kids are OK. Twenty 32inch TV's and one big
screen.....every game is on but majority rules on the big screen so come
vote Dolphins and go skiing or head to the Grand Canyon in time for sunset
after the game! |
| Mesa |
RT O'Sullivans |
Dolphins fans show up. And the
managment of the bar cares about football and helping their customers, more
so than other bars.
|
| Sedona |
The Coffepot |
Just south of Sunset Drive on 89A in West Sedona No kids, mixed drinks, beer &
wine and a nice Mexican & sandwhich menu. Four TV's & one big
screen...again majority rules on what to watch. After the game watch the
sun set over the red rocks on the banks of Oak Creek Canyon to the songs
of the coyotes......nice |

|
| California |
| Alta Loma |
Sam's Place |
Clean with great beer and food. |
| Anaheim |
ESPN Zone |
at Downtown Disney.
They carry every game on Sundays. The giant screen will carry the Raiders,
Chargers or if they are not on the Rams. Great Vegas sports book atmosphere and
always crowded. If you get there early, you can sit at the bar and have the
Dolphin's game right in front of you. When you get there, ask the bartender to
tell which TV the Phins game will be on and grab a chair. Usually several Phins
fans around. Great food, cold beer and every game on at once as well as all the
game stats. Awesome place to watch the game. If you show up at 9:30 you can get
a seat at the bar. If there is a group of 4 or more, you can get one of the
private rooms to watch the game in! Parking is free if you show your ESPN Zone
receipt (Don't forget the receipt or it will cost you, big time). Exit off I-5
in Annehiem at the Downtown Disney Exit and follow the signs. On Sundays during
the season they open at 9:00 am.
|
| Bakersfield |
Papa O's (formerly Lamppost Pizza Parlors) |
At any one of several Lamppost Pizza parlors in Bakersfield, they televise all the NFL games. Call any one of them and they will tell you
which pizza parlor is televising a particular game. 25-30 Dolphins fans congregate at the one on Coffee and Hageman each week.
|

Off The Hook sports bar & grill |
2369 Winchester Blvd. to the left of Safeway
when facing it. 408-374-3257.
Generally All Games, but you need to get there early and
ask to watch your game, best way to make sure. They have a
great Breakfast buffet, but the buffet is gone by 11:30 or
so and regular menu fare after that.
Sports atmosphere,
large place with tv's out back for the smokers(no smoking
inside like most of california). Always a few dolphins
fans, though they don't seem to show up early.

teams that bring the most fans get the better seats. There is no cover charge,

Brampton Ontario |
Hooters |
252 Queen Street. A typical Hooters, right down to the pushy service and lousy, overpriced
menu, but it's a quality place to watch football. Several big screens and
plenty of TV's full of football. Always crowded on Sundays but there's plenty
of parking.
|
Brampton Ontario |

every game... and with so many TVs they'll always put whichever game you
want to watch up there. |
Windsor, Ontario |
Hurricanes |
The place has one large screen TV, with many other TVs around the room.
Sunday is all football (QB1 and all that stuff), and it attracts a
variety of fans (you'll find some Miami fans, but obviously the place
has a few Detroit fans as well.)
It's two blocks west of the Ambassador Bridge if you're coming in from
Detroit. Go off the bridge and make a right towards the river. At
Riverside Ave., go left and up to the first set of lights. Hurricanes is
right across from the lights in a little mall with a fountain in front,

The Direct TV hook-up is downstairs in the basement bar and
there are always at least a half dozen dolfans present, which often leads to
them putting the game on the one big screen tv they have there (even when

| Orlando |
Smokey Bones BBQ |
They have at least 20 TV's and 2 of
them are big screens. Pretty much every game is on TV and you can request
where you wanna sit or what game to watch. There were about 20 Dolphin Fans
there but thats due to the dumb TV company putting on the Redskins and Steve
Spurrier rather than Miami. So, I dunno how many there is when the game is
actually on TV. Oh and get there 45 minutes before the game to get a good
seat.

AJ's Sports Bars |
West Tennessee St
Tons of TVs, good wings and fries.
All the games are on, and the Florida teams usually get the big screens
with sound. If you like a quiet, cozy place to watch the game, this isn't
for you. If you like a stadium-like atmosphere and don't mind maybe having
to stand if you get there after kickoff, this is your place.
|

Beef O'Brady's |

Great food.
They have a lot of TVs and will usually put the Florida teams on the big

Various locations- they'll show Dolphins games upon request. Usually
there are at least 10 to 20 Dolfans at either of the 2 northern locations

Ker's Wing House |
There are actually
several Wing House's in the Tampa Bay area, but the best is on US 19, just
north of Gandy Blvd. Ker was a member of the Dallas Cowboys, so there is a
lot of sports memorabilia. The Wing House is much like a Hooters, but many prefer the slightly more casual atmosphere (you don't feel
rushed to leave, and the ladies are much more down to earth). They have
their own website at www.winghouse.com |
| Tampa |
The Press Box |

of S. Dale Mabry Hwy and Platt St, just south of Kennedy Blvd
Good Food, good
football atmosphere. Lots of screens with various games. Obviously it's a
Bucs haven. And it's usually packed on Gamedays. But they have two big screen
TVs up front, and the Phins game is always on one of them. There's usually
some Phins fans up front in jerseys watching the game.

Vero Surf Restaurant |
1926 86th Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32966, (561) 562-6550
Near I95 & state road 60. East 1/2 to 1 mile on right. Look
for Blue sign "Surf". The restaurant Bar can't be seen directly from
the highway as it's about a block off the road in a wooded area.
This place is JUST OUT OF THE BLACKOUT AREA north on I95. I've
watched two playoff games here and it is a lot of fun. TV's
circle the bar area, and it gets very crowded on game day. It's
as fun as going to the game there and a lot cheaper.

Spectators |
It's a great sports bar specially during football season. If there are
enough fans every week they will reserve a room just for those fans.
There are anywhere between 40 to 60 fans every week to see the Fins
play so needless to say they have a Dolphin room. They also have a
huge Dolphins banner in the room courtesy of Coors Light. They had an
autographed Marino jersey dedicated to Spectators but the owner pull
it down because the autographed helmet was taken. Unfortunately the
big screen is just for Giants & Jet fans but no other team has as many
fans as the Dolphins in that place. Get there at least half hour to 45
minutes before the game starts or you wont be able to sit. It's
really a great atmosphere for Dolfans. The food is decent and the
prices reasonable. They even have tv's in the bathrooms. 4 stars out
of 5.

Dolphins/Broncos games) or whatever the back room wants to see. There is a
fairly large contingent of Dolphins fans that congregate and I have only
been there once when the Fins weren't big screen at least for the end of the
game. They also have enough regular size sets around to show every game on
at least one set. It is packed though so you need to get there early to get
a table.

First Edition Grill & Bar |
on Bell Blvd & 41st Ave, Bayside
From the owner:
For the past
several years, a large number of Dolphin fans regularly come to our
neighborhood sports bar which was established by my father in 1948.
We are widely recognized as the best sports bar in Queens ,NYC. We are located
on Bell Blvd & 41st Ave, Bayside. There are 75 TV's including 7 big screen TV's
and several personal LCD wall TV's - so every seat can see several NFL games
simultaneously - and we show them all.
What makes us unique is we have an extensive quality menu which ranges from
wings - our customers say they are the best around - to burgers , pizza ,
healthy salads , grilled sandwiches/wraps , all kinds of finger foods , brunch
all day - to several great entrees.
On NFL Sundays till 6 pm we run a 1/2 price promotion on several popular food
items.There is no cover charge.

and never too crowded (except Mon. nights and the playoffs). Beer specials and
the best Buffalo wings around (a steal at 15 cents each) . . . but take my
advice - DON'T CHALLENGE THE COOK TO MAKE HIS HOTTEST WINGS. Try to get a bar
seat so you can watch 5 games at the turn of your stool. |

The bar tender will put the game on a corner t.v so all the fans of both

clear of the "mini-black hole," that the 'Cuse Raider nation has established
there, but it is all in good fun! There are also a lot of Packers fans in
the house as well!
(Fans) recommend the wings and the burgers, fairly moderate in price,
sometimes they offer 10 cent wings and the beers are flowing and cheap!

I'm writing to confirm Game Time as the best place in Greenville SC to
watch Dolphins football. The place is huge and laid out in such a way
that you can generally have a decent view of at least five games. The
food (appetizers and sandwiches) is good to excellent, as far as pub fare
goes, and they have fully stocked bars, not just cheap beer. Even the
chairs are stuffed, have wheels, and rotate... very comfortable, very
easy to rearrange, very easy to spin to see what that cheer behind you
was all about.
There are plenty of pool tables, dart boards, and video games scattered
around in case the good guys are losing and you'd rather not watch,
anymore.
It is a private club, meaning that you have to know a member to get in
(this is of particular importance in South Carolina on Sundays... Blue

Box Seat |
2221 Bandywood Drive. Phone: (615) 383-8018 Off Hillsboro Road in the Green Hills area. Have 15 screens. But the screens are almost all big and very easy to
view, and it is still two stories and roomy. The bottom floor is a
restaurant, the top floor a bar with stools and the usual games like
pool and darts. They still show every NFL game. There is no longer
a plurality of Dolphins fans at this bar though. Back when I wrote
you about Box Seat, Dolphins and Dallas fans had some minor
followings in Tennessee because there were no other winning teams
in the South. Obviously, that has changed in a big way with the
arrival of the Titans, nee Oilers. The audience is now very mixed,
both between teams and in terms of demographics (age, etc.). (The
Titans fans have the most, but there are pockets for most decent
teams, especially because Titans games are always on TV at home.)

Jonathans |
located right on 21st Avenue in Hillsboro Village Address: 1803 21st Ave S.
Phone: (615) 385-9301, Gets every single game,
including Dolphins games. However, it is certainly not Nashville's #1
Sports Bar these days! Audio here is not as good as Box Seat, and
is entirely a restaurant, where you will be seated. Jonathan's is long
and thin, which makes it difficult to view your game if you do not get
seated in a correct spot (its hard to get an angle where you can see
many TVs), and it is even somewhat harder to hear your game, as
the volume is kept fairly low, and Jonathans can get noisy.
However, it is rather easy to find, and draws a good crowd. It is one
block from Vanderbilt University, and thus the crowd here is heavily
college students, and generally younger, as opposed to football die-
hards of all ages that populate Box Seat.

Sportsman's Grille |
on 21st Avenue right down from Jonathan's.
This is absolutely positively NOT a good place
to watch NFL or Dolphins games. Firstly, its totally a restaurant;
much more so than the other places here, which all have at least
some "bar" component to them. Secondly, they do not have enough
screens to see all games. Seven screens does not always cover all
games, and even then there is no guarantee you will see seven
different games. Last I was there, the manager was a Packers fan,
and that game was on at least 3 TVs. Thirdly: The audio is
completely turned off on all TV's. Fourth: The TV's are small, very
small. Unless you are the type of person who wants to go eat a meal
and that is your primary purpose, and you'd like a little football in the
background, then maybe its okay.

This place is sort of the "Anti-SRO" as it is
is low key, a bit blue-collar, almost a neighborhood bar. However, its
reputation is excellent, it has quite a bit going for it, its shows all NFL
games, and the sportswriters for the Houston Chronicle and other
local periodicals watch their games here more than any other place.
The place is medium-sized, and is almost entirely a "bar". You pick
up a stool or a chair and put it wherever you want. Sure there is food
available and tables around to sit at, but that is optional. The
atmosphere here is so low-key that you could very easily spend an
entire Sunday afternoon here and not order a single drink or
hamburger, and nobody would notice. Here is what I think is the
most unique aspect of Scoreboard: The big screen TVs are spaced
evenly around the four walls of the bar. When you walk in, there is
usually a sign up which tells you what game is being shown on which
big screen TV. When you find your screen, you can opt to just pull
up a chair or stool (there is plenty of room here; it never gets
overcrowded, even on Sundays), or you can grab a table. The big
screen showing your game will have audio which is quite easy to
hear. However, interestingly surrounding each big-screen TV in a
circle are several smaller TVs which have no sound. These TVs
show the other NFL games without audio. So if there is a
commercial, or you want to see what is happening in say, the Bills-
Jets game, you need not get up from your seat to find out the
game will be on a small screen surrounding the main big screen
showing the Dolphins game.

SRO's |
FM 1960 @ Cutten Road - 18 miles NW

(Another) SRO's |
On Westheimer and Gessner. Address - 2517 S Gessner Rd, Houston, TX Phone: (713) 952-1999
There is now a second SRO that has
opened in the last couple years, and it completely wipes the other
SRO off the map, which most people now consider rather average.
It is also more convenient, being 9 miles due West of Downtown
near the intersection of Westheimer and Gessner (two major roads).
The old SRO, which is still open but is incomparable, is 18 miles NW
of downtown. The New SRO on Westheimer and Gessner used to be a
movie theatre, and they converted the entire theatre into a sports
bar. Needless to say, it is a massive place. It has a restaurant
section, a bar section, a game room section (heck, it probably has
more than one of each.. LOL) The number of TVs I is almost
uncountable; dozens are viewable from every angle. They show all
sporting events that is is possible to show, I do think. I noted that
SRO managed to show every single preseason NFL game. All four
Dolphin preseason games were shown. As you know, that is quite a
feat, considering that most of those games are on local stations only,
etc. It seems that there is always a professional satellite person
there, as opposed to a place like Jonathan's in Nashville where the
staff often keeps flipping channels till they find sporting events.
The old SRO is still there, although it pales by comparison, and the
company is clearly concentrating its focus on the new location It
would be a feasible option though if someone lived or stayed NW of
town and it was very convenient. Crowd is mixed in age, tends to be
more white collar/upper middle class.
